Herb Directory is a curated directory of hemp, CBD, and functional mushroom brands. Getting your brand listed gives you exposure to real customers searching for products like yours, a trustworthy third-party endorsement, and a high-quality dofollow backlink that helps your search rankings. This guide explains how listings work, what data we collect, and how customers find brands on the directory.
Why a Dofollow Backlink Matters
Search engines use links between websites as one of their core ranking signals. A backlink from a well-trafficked, topical, authoritative directory like Herb Directory tells Google that another reputable site in the hemp space considers your brand worth referencing.
A "dofollow" link is a link that passes ranking authority to your domain. Many directories give "nofollow" links by default, which exist for traffic but do not help your SEO. Every brand listing on Herb Directory includes a dofollow link to the brand's official website. That single link can be worth more for your SEO than dozens of low-quality directory submissions.
The other piece is topical relevance. Search engines weight backlinks more heavily when they come from sites in the same industry. A link from a hemp directory carries far more weight for a hemp brand than a link from a generic business directory. Topical authority compounds over time, and brands listed on Herb Directory benefit from being in the company of other vetted hemp and mushroom brands.
What You Get
Every brand listing includes a dofollow backlink to your official website, a profile page indexed by Google, and exposure to customers actively searching for hemp, CBD, and mushroom products.
How Customers Find Brands
Herb Directory is built to help real customers find products that fit their needs. Customers can browse the directory in several ways:
- By category. CBD, Delta-8, THCA, functional mushrooms, kratom, and other product types each have a dedicated category.
- By state. Customers can filter to see brands that ship to or operate in their state, especially important for products with state-by-state legal variation.
- By feature. Filters for organic certification, USDA Organic, vegan, third-party tested, family-owned, and other distinguishing attributes.
- By search. Direct text search across brand names, product types, and descriptions.
- Through education content. Our learning hub draws customers researching specific topics, who then click through to relevant brand listings.
This means a well-built listing is not just a static directory page. It is a piece of organic discovery infrastructure that puts your brand in front of customers who are actively shopping.
Listing Tiers
Herb Directory offers tiered listings to fit different brand goals.
Free Listing
Free listings include the brand name, a short description, your category, and a link to your website. They are reviewed for fit before being published, but there is no charge. Free listings are the entry point and a great way to get listed quickly.
Standard Listing
Standard listings include everything in the free tier, plus a brand logo, an extended description, multiple product categories, social media links, and contact information for retailers and wholesalers. Standard listings appear above free listings in category and search results.
Featured Listing
Featured listings include everything in the standard tier, plus prominent placement on category landing pages, the homepage rotation, inclusion in our newsletter to subscribers, the ability to publish brand-authored content (review responses, brand stories, COA archives), and priority access to new directory features as they launch.
The pricing for paid tiers is published on the directory's submission page and is structured to be accessible for both startup brands and established multi-state operators.
How to Submit Your Brand
The submission process is designed to be quick.
- Visit the brand submission page on Herb Directory.
- Fill out the brand profile form. Have your basic information ready: brand name, website, founder name, year founded, primary categories, and a short description.
- Choose your listing tier.
- Upload supporting materials: your logo, a banner or hero image, a sample product COA, and any certifications.
- Submit for review.
We review every submission for fit, accuracy, and basic quality. The review usually takes one to three business days. If something is missing or unclear we will reach out by email before publishing.
What Data to Include
A great brand listing tells customers what they need to know quickly. The data we collect includes:
- Brand basics. Name, website URL, year founded, founder or team information, headquarters location.
- Product categories. Which product types you sell (CBD oil, gummies, topicals, mushroom capsules, vapes, flower, beverages, pet products, etc.).
- Cannabinoids and ingredients. Primary cannabinoids (CBD, CBG, Delta-8, Delta-9, THCA), mushroom species, and other key ingredients.
- Sourcing. Where your hemp or mushrooms are grown, whether you control your own cultivation, and any certifications (USDA Organic, Sun+Earth, etc.).
- Lab testing. Whether you publish third party COAs, the lab you use, and a sample COA.
- Operations. Which states you ship to, retail availability, wholesale program details if you have one.
- Distinguishing features. Family-owned, women-owned, BIPOC-owned, B-Corp certified, climate-positive, donations or charitable programs.
- Customer support. Email, support response time, return policy.
- Story. A short brand story that gives customers a reason to care.
Brands that fill out their profiles completely consistently outperform brands with sparse listings in click-through and conversion.
Quality Standards
Herb Directory is curated. We do not list every brand that submits. Our editorial standards include:
- A real, working website with active product pages.
- Third party COAs published for hemp products. (Not optional.)
- Honest, non-misleading marketing claims.
- Compliance with the Farm Bill and state law in the markets you ship to.
- A clear contact path for customers.
- Real product photography, not just stock images.
Brands that do not meet these standards are returned for revision before publishing. We have rejected listings before, and we will keep doing it. The trust customers have in the directory comes from the curation.
COAs Required
Hemp brand listings must include a valid third party Certificate of Analysis. We will not publish a hemp listing without one. This protects both customers and the integrity of the directory.
Updating Your Listing
After your listing is live, you can update it any time. Common updates include adding new product categories, refreshing your brand story, updating your COA when you run new lab tests, adding new state availability, and adding new certifications. Featured listings have access to a self-serve dashboard for instant updates. Standard and free listings can request updates by email.
